Deputy Chief of Prevention Jared Earnest reported that fire crews were dispatched around 11:45 a.m. to a fire in the Fairgrounds Road area. When deputies arrived on the scene first, they confirmed that all occupants had safely exited the building. However, accessing the flames beneath the home posed an initial challenge, requiring crews to work carefully to fully extinguish the fire. Firefighters remained on-site for an additional hour to ensure the area was completely secured.During the response, Warm Springs Fire and Safety assisted by providing medical coverage for the district. Additionally, personnel were called back to support district staffing. The home’s sole resident was uninjured, but the fire caused extensive damage, necessitating the shutdown of both water and power. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide temporary housing assistance.Jefferson County Fire and EMS extended their gratitude to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Warm Springs Fire and Safety, Pacific Power, and Deschutes Valley Water for their support during the emergency. The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire, Earnest confirmed.
